Little James' Basket Press rouge 0,75L
Louis Barroul: The wine growers generally love the Grenache ! It produces well, it grows well and quickly, it gives big shoots, the plant ages well, it produces a quite high alcohol ( !), it is well adapted to the mediterranean climate..etc… Unfortunately this is a grape which doesn’t like the average terroirs. On this point of view, cépages such as Syrah or Cabernet-Sauvignon have a better capacity for adaptation. I often talk about the Solera, this ageing and blending method used for Little James red since 1999, but it should be recalled as well that Little James comes from great terroirs. This is why it is so expressive. Actually the Roussillon area is a land of ultimate excellence for this grape variety which noticeably likes the soils of Maury and Banyuls. I will always keep my sources a bit secret but if you think about these areas for Little James red, you are close to the truth. The 2015 bottlings will contain 50% of the 2014 and 50% of the Solera (the blend of the older vintages). This year, because Little James red reaches 15 years of existence, its label is going to change and stay the same at the same time : you’ll say to me that both ideas are contradictory. I leave you discover it by yourself and you’ll see it is not contradictory !!... Alcohol cherries, oriental spices, strawberry, peat.
